Are Coyotes suppose to be in Louisiana?

My Dad lives in St. Tammany Parish which is across Lake Pontchatrain from New Orleans. Anyway the other night he was coming home really late about 3:00 in the morning and he saw a Coyote jump the whole span of the road to the other side then ran threw his yard and into the woods down the street. I never saw one around Louisiana. So I showed him pics of Coyotes and He said that is what he saw.

Coyotes, once native to the south west are the only wild animal to have increased their range since the 19th century.  Coyotes have been seen as far nothe as New York.

Coyotes live across the lower 48, they were once native only to the west, but moved east as Europeans moved in and started bringing their livestock with them and now live throughout much of North America

Yes i see them all the time i live in lafourche parish.They never brother us.they are by my horses.
