Question:

Are Democrats aware that heavy manufacturing jobs shifted a generation ago?

Watching the absurd speeches by Democrats on Thursday, I had to stare with dismay. As if the American economy changed in the year 2000.

Kiddies, the change started happening in the late 60's, and, the majority of MASSIVE layoffs occurred in the 70's and 80's.

Listening to the propaganda machine on Thursday, one would believe that all was well and good in decent America until GWB took office.

A slight of hand in words worthy of Houdini!

  1. Sure the trend started earlier, but Bush policies accelerated it. Between 2000 and 2007 3.2 million manufacturing jobs were lost.

  2. It is the same old fear playing.  What is funny is that the Democrats want to tax "big" business out of existence and the majority of union workers work at "big" business.

  3. Don't you think some quotes to back up your opinion that is not a question, would be in order?

    However:

The reasons are obvious we have priced ourselves out of the manufacturing market place.  When a country in Asia can make an iPhone for $20 in labor as opposed to $220, who would you expect our companies to turn too?

    Peace

    Jim

  4. Sure we are aware, we are also aware that the country has done nothing and mentioned nothing about all those good paying jobs that have gone overseas.  What GWB did was make it worse, make it so that ordinary people were told to wait for the crumbs off the table of the rich, and to shut up about it too.

Trickle down was the worst idea of the past century, Bush's father called it voodoo and he was right.  We actually need to be a little more protectionist, and give tax breaks ONLY to those businesses that hire here, build here, and don't outsource.  Instead we gave breaks for outsourcing, just how stupid are we?

That was what was most moving about Obamas acceptance speech.

It was nice to see that someone remembered that we aren't all college grads working in nice clean offices.  And that all work carries its own dignity.

The other thing Bush did wrong was borrow and go into massive debt.

You don't go into a war, without economic support from either the UN or a coalition of other countries, and then cap it off by lowering taxes on the ones who feel it the least.

    You just don't.

Now we will all have to pay more to pay the bills hes going to leave, and the problems he had seven years to help clear up remain.

By the way, a generation is considered to be twenty years.

  5. I never did understand Unions who supported Democrats; most (3/4) of those jobs were lost (sent out of country) by the democrats

  6. That is so true, my good man. But when it comes to Democrats, do you think they're actually going to be bothered by facts?
