Are Dental Bridges unhealthy?

Question

I have to have a tooth taken out soon (well the dentist already tried and had no luck, so hes going to have to cut my gum to get it out now, and I have a very big fear of the dentist), anyway Ive asked for a Bridge as I can always see the gap at the top of my mouth when i laugh or smile and i dont like it.

Someone told me that dental bridges are unhealthy. is this true?

Aren't partials supposed to be skin color aroung teeth? Mine are silver titanium and thats what you see if I open mouth, looks terrible. I have never seen someone with it , medicaid must cover it never saw anyone with metalmouth?
