Question:

Are Diet Pills prescribed by Doctors safer then those on the shelves?

I was given 3 types of diet pills to be taken once a day from the doctor, he is a normal GP n he's really careful, he took my blood pressure n ask me some questions, n tell me what symptoms to look out for before he prescribe the pills. 4 of my friends have been successful with losing weight with these.

Are pills from doctors any safer then those we can buy off the shelves?

  1. Be careful with diet pills--I've had some bad experiences trying some of them. What I did find to work really well though was a natural supplement of Acai berry which I actually saw on Oprah. It was a while ago, but I ordered a free sample from http://ultraacaiberry.com/y/ and it's been great for helping increase my energy, metabolism, and keeping my body healthy! I've lost weight and I feel much, much better than I did when I was on the pills.

  2. There is no difference, but you can be sensitive to some pills. Doctor can choose pill without such effects. Of course you can choose suitable pills by yourself and then by it in Internet over counter (here for example http://bisina.info/order_weight_loss_en-... ) but it takes much time since you have to read much information to make right choice.

  3. All drugs must pass FDA approval.

And, if you think about it logically, the drugs you can get OTC, are probably safer, because you DON'T need a doctor to approve you taking it.

The reason a prescription is required for drugs, is because they can have side effects and should be monitored by a doctor.

SO, to answer your question, both have been approved by the FDA, but the OTC was considered to either be safe enough not to need a prescription or the dosage was small enough not to need one.

  4. Three steps that have really helped me are dieting, exercising, and the correct weight loss supplement for losing weight. Focus on those three things and you will lose weight considerably. I exercise 30 mins a day along with taking Proactol, a natural weight loss supplement that I saved money on at theweightlossplace.com

Good luck and stay focused = )

  5. The rigour that is applied to get prescription products registered is MUCH greater than that required to get non-prescription (ie OTC or Complementary) products registered. This doesn't make them safer but it does mean that they have been tested on many people before being approved and met an acceptable level of safety

  6. Yes I believe so...but please, please, do not loose your prescription, in case these doctors made a mistake, you have proof...& a reason to take it to court for mal-practice.

  7. i will have to disagree with ian. rapid weight loss is dangerous and I'm sure your doctor has already told you the side effects if he has prescribed you 3 kinds already. There is no reason to sue your doctor for taking the easy way out on dieting

  8. Why mess with chemicals? Have you looked into isagenix cleansing? It's all natural - no chemicals and it's a healthy way to lose weight. I lost 31 pounds so far, still using it and will for the rest of my life. I'll give you more info if you want, email me at: cleansing@tonycalhoun.com
