  1. From my own experience, the local channels will not work.

At least they didn't for me. I do get all the other channels though.

    Good Luck

  2. Hi Fly,

Yes, they are area programmed. If you go to Las Vegas you will lose your local channels.

  3. It really depends on a lot. First the type of dish you have matters. If it is the smaller 12 inch dish then you probably can. What the best bet to do is to call and ask. They will have to activate the local channels for you if you can get them. You can take your dish and reciever with you anywhere you want. Some people put them on motorhomes and travel all year. You will have to change the programming to get the locals in a different location though.

Then it gets into the type of contract you signed when you had it hooked up. Some contracts won't let you change the programming for one year from the installation. You will be able to get the other channels (all but locals) and you should still be able to get the local channels over the air. They are digital by now in most locations. So you can still get local digital channels over the air. I mean you can use rabbit ears. Best bet is to call them and ask if there is a charge or is it free for them to do it. Good Luck!
