Are EVP sessions more powerful at a cemetary?

My husband, Grandmother, Grandfather, and great aunts and uncles are buried in a family plot. I am wondering if an EVP session would be more powerful at the cemetary or at my grandparents lake house down the road?

  1. I do not know. Just b/c their bodies are at rest in the cemetery does not mean that their spirits are attached to the grounds. If they were religious then they probably went on to where they belong and look in on you from time to time. If I were a spirit, I think I would be more attached to the ones I love, my home of 18 years or something with some significance (hence the lake house). I definitely do not think I would be attracted to a cemetery just b/c I am buried there. I do not know, I'll tell you when I am dead.

Sorry to hear of so many losses.

  2. No, evps just show up where they show up.  The only need is for the entity to make a noise, throw something or speak is the energy to draw upon in order to do it.

  3. Your loved one's are not earthbound, they are spirits and they have made it to the other side. They come to visit you, but they are not active at cemetaries unless you call them there.

    :)

  4. If you're looking for someone who had an attatchment to the cemetery, it makes sense to look there.

But otherwise, why on earth would your grandparents be sitting on their graves when they have a perfectly lovely house that they spent years of their lives in?

Think about it this way, if you were going to haunt someplace, where would you go? A plot of ground you've only seen a few times? Or a house you lived, laughed, and loved in? Seems like an easy choice.

In all honesty, evp is 99% wishful thinking. It's a lot of "Listen! It says (insert ghost quote here)" and playing the tape. Once you've told people what to listen for, they hear it. Otherwise it would just be static.

I'm not saying it can't happen, but please be rational about the results. If you don't get anything it may be that your grandparents just don't have a great need to tell you anything right now.

  5. Sometimes.  I am the president of our Paranormal Group and we have gotten EVPs in Cemetaries and in homes and businesses. I don't hear the voices until the Digital Recorder is played back after we are done with an investigations and one can do EVPs in the day or night as we have gotten some great ones during the daylight also.

It really comes down to where you think you will get your family members the best.  I really think you would have a better chance at the lake house as I have a feeling there were some really happy times at your grandparents house.

Alot of laughing and just being a real family in life and not death.  I think you would get more at the lake house than the Cemetary.  You can try both places and then listen to see where you picked up the most of the ones you are talking about.  I would try the lake house first then the Cemetery.

I have been investigating for alot of years and as I said it is really up to you and where you feel you will gain the most of what you want.  You will have some good success and it is okay to just talk to someone who goes with you about what you usually talk about and you need to invite them to go ahead and talk into the recorder first and tell them or who you want to say something to and then go about with any normal everyday stuff you talk about and you will still get EVPs.  Good Luck and maybe you could let us know what happened.

Thank-You for your question and also not afraid to ask a question like this.

  6. I agree with one of the other answers, if I had to hang around someplace as a spirit it would be at home.    I think (and this is just my opinion) that the ones you find in a cemetery are more likely to be people that died suddenly and are still trying to stay near their body.    I also think that going to a loved ones grave and talking to them can bring them there.   For recording evp I would stick to the house.
