Question:

Are Europeans and Canadians ready for black leaders?

A lot of canadians and europeans asking if Americans are ready for black leaders, but I was wondering since canadians and europeans have absolutely not one person of color even waiting in the wings to be a contender to lead their nations, I was wondering just how ready are they? Perhaps Americans are less racist than they? A general observation would say so.

  1. I've been living and working in Germany now for over 15 years, and I can tell you (as a black American who grew up in Texas) that things here are MONUMENTALLY better than in Texas w.r.t. all the racism and discrimination I experienced growing up there- no comparison can even be made. I think that if there were a black candidate for the office of the chancellor here, it wouldn't be nearly as big a deal as it seems to be in the U.S. You of course can't generalize, but I can absolutely assure you from personal experience in both countries that at least Germany (which happens to be a European country) is light years ahead of the U.S, in terms of being progressive, particularly w.r.t. race. Yeah, good point you make with n**i Germany- and I think that, precisely because of Germany's experience with two wars and with the holocaust, it is a much more progressive country than the U.S. Americans haven't quite learned that lesson yet, but inevitably will. If you like living in the U.S., fine- you're more than entitled to do so. I prefer Germany because I feel much more comfortable here, and a lot more secure- for me, the quality of life here is much better than anything the U.S. could offer me, and I choose to exercise my right and freedom as an American to live elsewhere. You can elect Obama, or McCain, or Ron Paul, or whomever else you feel is up to the job- I don't care because it's not going to affect my life.

  2. Considering the history Europeans have had with minorities, I'd say they are far from being accepting to a minority being in a position of authority. Americans are far more accepting of this, despite the popular stereotype of Americans being the "most racist people on earth." Just more reasons why the anti-American crowd is full of hysteria and hot air.

  3. Living here I beg to differ as far as racism goes. Europe isn't as bad when it comes to that. As for Canada I don't know because I haven't been there yet.

  4. Scary Spice the next Queen...stay tuned.

  5. ironic isn't it that europeans and canadians are so full of judgment about America and race, yet...hmmmm....where are their Oprahs and Obamas??

  6. Yes, you're very uninformed. Virtually all European governments have high level ethnic minorities even when those minorities are a much smaller percent of the population than the percentage of African Americans in the US

  7. Funny isn't it that they always accuse Americas as being racist when they treat their own minorities as pets and not one has any power? Just look at all the black mayors in the US. How many black mayors are there in Canada and Europe? Oh, Dublin elected a black mayor last year, the first one in european history. Does that mean they have surpassed the US in leaps and bounds? We're about 100 years ahead I'd say. But the liberals who are so rabidly hateful toward America will sing another tune. I remember when ONE mexican state legalized g*y marriage, the g*y left in the US declared that Mexico surpassed the US in g*y rights despite Massachusetts having legalized g*y marriage years before, and the hundreds of g*y rights laws passed in the US since 1970. We'll just have to accept the fact that with the Left America will never win.
