While I do believe that corrupt politicians are the ones crippling the nation, I do believe that the extreme apathy of majority of the filipinos are burying the country in its grave.

What do you think?

  1. Yeah we got a bunch of pinoy's here. Filipino's are apathetic to anyone other than their own. Hope that answers your question. I don't care about the patriotic aspect of your country .

  2. On the contrary, Filipinos are one of the most warm hearted and empathetic people in the world.  They share the heartfelt laughter and the copious tears of their family, friends, neighbors, and members of the community.

Yet, Filipinos are also known for their resilience and flexibility amidst personal and national disasters. Filipinos are like bamboo trees that creak and sway in the direction of the wind.  A farmer living by the riverbanks, and whose house along with all his domestic properties is carried by the flashflood, can still manage to give a toothy smile for the camera.  Someone not familiar with the nuances of the culture might misconstrue it as total apathy.

Madame, the Philippine history is rich with tales of resistance, revolutions, insurrections, and martyrdom.  The silence does not signify apathy, it does show extreme frustration over a system that has corrupted a beautiful island. Yet an ordinary Filipino has to strike a balance between fighting for his ideals and the mundane challenge of making ends meet.

  3. Hi,

I don't  know, but one thing I do know,  I like Filipino Women.  I was in your country at one time.

  4. True, now all Filipinos ladies are welcome here in the America...lol

  5. Not at all. they just used to endure such things but if ever the endurance comes to a certain extent then without any script they work together as one .If you remember the genuine "people power or edsa revolution" which the whole world amazed by the unified of the filipino people...

    mabuhay!!!

  6. I don't care.

  7. I think this is a problem with most of Asia. America had a revolution; most European and Western nations have fought to the death for their freedoms historically but Asia seems to fail on this aspect of their collective consciousness everytime. It just seems to be something inherent in their conformist mentality. It's easy to direct the herd when the herd sticks together.

This issue is acknowledge by political scientist as an educational problem. More education is needed to give peolpe the ideological confidence to fight status quo. But then you look at modern nations like Japan and it still doesn't do much. I don't know. I did enjoy Manilla when I was there!

    Happy Holidays!
