  1. Fishing rods are made from fiber glass, graphite, bamboo, boron.....some old ones are made of metal.  Yes, the 'glass rods and the graphite rods will conduct electricity.  I was out in Lake Michigan one time, and there was an approaching thunder storm, and I got a shock off of my graphite rod from the static electricity in the air. Needless to say, I decided that it was time to head back to the landing.

  2. Graphite is very common material, and Fiber-glass and a host of others. All Materials will conduct electricity, but the materials of our poles will do so easier than some. I good reason to come of the lake when its stormy. Also watch out for power lines.

  3. Mostly graphite now, older versions and some of the cheaper rods on the market today are fiber glass, graphite is one of the best conductors of electricity, so it makes fishing with them in electrical storms very dangerous.

  4. Yes they can conduct electricity and even more so when they get wet.
