Question:

Are Freesport a good make of Ice Skates?

I have been looking on the internet for a pair of beginner figure skates and I have seen a pair of Freesport for £30.00. Does anyone know if this brand is a good quality make? I am going to be taking up ice skating, but I am not sure if I am going to stick with it so I do not want to spend lots of money on ice skates. But from previous experience, I know that the skates which are on offer at ice rinks are not very good. Any help will be useful, thanks!!

  1. No Way!...

    Dont get these Skates!...

I had them and because there not real(thats why there cheap)

The upper ankle part of the boot rubs into you and you cant skate for more then half an hour!..The blades arent very good either...They are really bad skates..

Try some beginner risports or summin...

They are really bad skates DO NOT BUY THEM!

    Good Luck =] x x

  2. nahh... its not good altough they are not popular... you should try jackson, riedell, risport, etc. and freesport will not last you much time:(

  3. the shop at our rink (silverblades, hemel hempstead) sells risport figure skates and easton hockey skates, neither are top brands but both are considered reasonable.

don't write off the shop at your rink.

if you're taking lessons then ask your coach to recommend a skate and shop.

skate attack in southgate, north london is a decent shop to go to (although don't know what part of the country you're in)

  4. For any style of figure skating, the support from the boot will have a LOT to do with how well you skate and how comfortable you are. Try to avoid any cheap skate with a plastic boot. You will get no support as you try to learn, the boot will not break in to the shape of your foot and other areas may be uncomfortable, too. There are some elite microfiber boots that are good, but they are priced like leather.

If your budget is small, try to find a good pair of used leather skates at a re-sale sporting goods store, on Ebay or among skaters at your rink. Find out what the boots are made of and check the new retail price before buying used. Get a seasoned skater or your instructor to advise you before buying.

Until you find skates or decide to buy better skates, use rental skates, if they are available. Most rink rental skates are better quality than the Freesport.

  5. Yes they are awesome :)
