say you got...3a's, 5b's 1 C and 2D's at gcse( which i really just want to forget about to be honest and NOT mention) and 4 a's at a-level,then went on to do a good degree.Would employers heavily descriminate because of the gcse results?

  1. No they wouldn't. Your degree + any relevant work experience are the most important things that an employer will look for. Some will look at A levels, but GCSEs are pretty much redundant by the time you're going into University.

  2. you shouldnt worry . im anemployer and grades some second place to the attitude and confidence that you can show at an interview

  3. Sometimes they are still important.

One of the teachers at my school once told me there were two girls going for the same job (one of the was from my school) and they both got the same A-Level results so the employer went back to the GCSEs. One girl had got a B whereas the other got an A in one of the subjects. So in some cases they are still important. Some people think they're ok with straight Ds but in the end it'll bite them in the ar.se.

Apart from the Ds, you've done alright. You've got your As and Bs so relax!

  4. NOT AT ALL. becuase u have done a levels and a degree most employers wont even look at your gcse's especially since u got a degree there is a certain amount of money u must demand instead of gettin like minimum wage, u will do just fine

  5. I don't think so - the fact that you got such great results at A-level shows your ability to work hard and fulfil your potential. Any employer would notice the stark contrast and, whilst perhaps asking you about it in an interview, would simply provide you with an opportunity to explain how (through a strong, commendable work ethic) you managed to 'pull your socks up' and get the grades.

I think, far from being a hindrance, they might make a good talking point and act as a demonstration on how you have the ability to progress.

    Good luck!

  6. From things I've heard that results are more important as they progress, first SATS, then GCSE's... I think A-levels are one of the best indicators in specific areas, but degrees are like the icing on the cake :)

  7. i dont reckon it does its more about whether you got a degree and the experience you have they dont usually go down 2 every gcse

  8. No they are interested in your latest achievements A good degree outweighs GCSE and A levels.

  9. If you have a degree you should be fine. I would never turn down some1 with a degree because their gcse results weren't straight a's

  10. you only put down what results you wants them to see

so just put down the a's b's and maybe c's (i dunno what ur standards are' and then u will look nice and smart =] lol.
