Are Golden Rainbow Trout good for Ponds???

I want to stock my 1-2 acre pond with golden rainbow trout and rainbow trout, will this work???? Can they survive in still water???? What do they go for?????

  1. don't stock fish in ponds if they are only fun to catch and good to eat  because for trout they like really cold water and not warm so mix it with other fish in the same mannor


  2. Keep in mind the the pH level of the water is very critical to sustain a trout population.

    If you're serious about this venture, you'd better do your homework.

Yes, a friend of mine has a lake which is stocked with golden and rainbow trout with the odd blue trout too, so long as the water is well oxygenated by either an aerator or a spring running into it, i don't see why it wouldn't work. Trout feed on natural insect life, that's the way they have evolved, if your lake is near to some trees and has plenty other aquatic life they should be fine, when you stock the fish leave them for a few weeks this way it separates the shoal of newly stocked fish and allows them to find their own territory.
