Ive noticed that some of them appear white but there are some of them that look like a light blue when lit. Are there different types of types of H.I.D. bulbs?

Also, are they illegal?

  1. Personal opinion I do not like the white light maybe because I'm not used to it?

  2. Short answer: yes.  H.I.D.s are far brighter than conventional headlights and light up the road better and farther. If you've ever noticed new BMWs driving at night and their lights seem insanely bright? Those are H.I.D.s.

  3. They are very bright and good. Increases your visibility, but some states have laws of the max brightness of HID can be. check your local laws.

And because since it's too bright, you can blind other drivers passing by your car.

  4. Yes they are good, if you have an HID headlight, or HID conversion kit.  They will not work if you use an HID bulb with your stock headlamps though, without a conversion kit.

The difference in light from white to blue/purple that you see is different temperature lights. The light from an HID is measured in temperature in Lumens.  I believe it goes from 5,000K which is a yellow/white color, all the way to 10,000K which is a purple color, with blue in the middle.

Some people think that because the purple has the highest rating that it must be the best, but the truth is that the optimum light output for headlights is right around 6,000K, which will give you a bright white light with maybe a blue tint to it.

HID conversion kits are pretty expensive, and I believe in some states are illegal unless your car came stock from the factory with HID's.

    Hope this info is helpful!
