They are kids' toys, and can be quite dangerous when used in the wrong place, like crossing downtown streets.  They are also used by teens and adults to perform stunts in a sport setting.

From the Heelys company website:  

"Never skate in or near streets, around traffic, or stairs"

"Never heel faster than you can walk."

"Crowded public areas are not good places for heeling."

So, I would say, if you are in a hurry at 6 in the morning, they may suit you, if you are in a hurry at 8:30 fuggedaboutit!
