Question:

Are High school Football kickers/punters allowed to wear single-bar facemasks?

I am currently playing high school football in the state of South Carolina as a kicker, and although I seriously doubt it I guess I am wishfully hoping that I am allowed to wear a single-bar facemask. Can someone please shed some light on this? Thanks in advance.

  1. doubt they have one first off and second it would be a safty concern

and third...why would you want that there is a reason ppl dont use those anymore same reson they dont have leather helmets anymore its just unsafe

  2. Faceguards must meet NOCSAE (National Operating Committee for Standards for Athletic Eqiupment) standards.  A single bar mask cannot meet those standards.

  3. They should.

  4. i think so, but i never saw any do tho, i think all perfer not to, because they play other postons besides kicker, that they would need a full facemask for

  5. I believe thats your option, coaches will ask you as mine did me I was a wide reciever and coach asked me if I wanted to wear the double face mask or the double with a single bar down the middle I selected the latter

becasue I knew during pile ups when takled or other situations oppenents will try to poke at my eye's and not having that bar down the middle would have made eye poking much more successfull than the bar did, although a few was successfull even with

the bar but I hate to think how many more times I had my eye's poked if I didnt select the bar.
