I was looking at 2001 Honda civic but it has 130,000 miles on it. Is it worth it?

  1. The best things about these cars is that when you want more power, you can swap the motor with one of Hondas lawn mower motors.

  2. Is it worth what.  I have a 2000 and it seems to be worth the money I paid for it a year ago.  I have driven it about 23000 milesin one year and it would have done twice that.  I just got back from Florida, speeds up to 80 mpg, gas mileage(about 33 mpg) the same as if I'm going 35 mph.  The only thing that affects gas mileage is the air conditioner.  What I don't like is how it sits.  My 91 honda civic was like a Cadillac in the seat department.  This is like it was made for tiny people instead of fat people.  Pretty good bargain for the $.

  3. we love honda civics..we are on our third we started with an 02 that was used and traded up to an 06 and last month the 08....i think mileage wise..unless its priced below value i would worry about that...i would look for one with lower mileage...the reason i say this i have a 98 ford escort...i know its funny..but it has right around 155k on it..we have beat that car to death...a car that has that many miles on it...someone beat it to death..whether they have meant too or not...just my opinion

  4. My 94 Civic has 187K miles and still runs like new (and get 41 mpg on hwy).   Doesn't even burn one drop of oil EVER!  So they CAN BE very long lasting.

but EVERY used car is different.  So take it to a mechanic to have it inspected BEFORE paying $$$.

    Good luck...

  5. Honda Civics are excellent vehicles.

The 2001 Honda Civic has an AutoOnInfo.net Reliability Percentrank of .89, on a scale of 0.00 to 1.00, and this may be a statistical understatement as the Honda Civic's lowest Reliability Percentrank for the 3 preceding years and 3 following years is .95. For comparison, Honda's 2001 overall average is .82 (although this is brought down by the Honda Passport, an Isuzu SUV sold by Honda before it developed its own SUVs), Toyota's 2001 overall average is .91, and General Motors' 2001 overall average is .31.

Both the Honda Civic sedan and the Honda Civic coupe and hatchback are on AutoOnInfo.net's very selective list of Automobiles with Best Engine (based on Consumer Reports' reliability ratings in the major engine category for model years 1998 to 2001), with perfect Composite Reliability Scores of 1.00.

The one shortcoming of the Civic may be its transmission, as the Civic did not make AutoOnInfo.net's very selective list of Automobiles with Best Transmission. However, my personal experience with my Honda Fit suggests that Hondas offer better acceleration than what a corresponding Toyota might offer, so a less durable transmission may be the trade-off.

  6. it can last you to 300,000 plus. I have cousin with have hondas and toyota that pass the 999,999 mark.  if you just change the oil and drive sensly it'll last.

  7. yes ther better than than Corollas 2, and last long.

  8. Honda Civics are great cars.

Honda in general is great and they keep going forever. They have a great resale value, and its because they won't let you down.

I am trading in my 03 civic very soon, but thats because i'm picky and like new cars. You most likely won't have problems with an 01 for a long time.

That is a lot  of miles though, you might be able to find one with less. The more miles, the more likely you'll need to invest in it. Things will eventually need repair in one way or another.

My car is an 03 and has 57,000 miles. You should try to look for one that has around 80,000 or less, that way you know that the previous owner/owners didn't over drive it.

Whatever you do, look up the value of the car on www.kbb.com that way you can see how much it is worth.

  9. Honda Civics are great cars. I have never ever had a major problem with mine. I had a 97 that made it well passed 140,000 and many cross country trips (back when gas was affordable!!) and the only reason I got a new car was for the sake of having a new car. Now I have a 06 Civic and still love it. No problems at all. Great cars. Can't imagine ever wanting to buy anything but a Honda. So I think if you are getting a good price it is definitely worth it. It has lots of miles ahead as long as you take care of it!!!

  10. Not if they're from Thailand. I had to pay $2,500 to replace the immobiliser system + CPU which had blown just out of warranty :(. Then again, I may have been one of the few unlucky Honda owners...

  11. If its maintained well, it will last a long time.

  12. as long as you keep them well maintained. havent had a problem with mine. (2) 2005;1992

  13. they might not be the  most luxurious, fastest car but they are sure economical and last and last forever if you take care of it.

  14. Honda civic's are known to last if you take care of it. It will be worth it depending on the price.

Check www.KBB.com for a pretty good estimate on how much it will cost.
