Are Human Geography and Social Science basically the same things?

No human geography is a little more specific. Social science emcompasses all aspects of society.

Social science includes human geography, along with sociology, anthropology and psychology. Each of these differs in their focus. Broadly, human geography examines the relationship between societies, place and nature, sociology concentrates on interactions between groups, psychology more on individual cognition and anthropology on culture and ritual.
