    some of them?  probably.

    how 'bout pigeons?  keep in mind, the passenger pigeon is now extinct.


  2. According to the Hummingbird Society (see link below) "Hummingbirds are the world's second largest family of birds with an estimated 328 species. Despite the fact that they are found only in the New World (North, South, and Central America; and islands of the Caribbean), they are a familiar subject around the globe. Yet few in the world are aware that twenty-eight (28) species, or nearly ten per cent, are threatened with extinction, according to an analysis by BirdLife International."

    This includes some of the most amazing and beautiful little birds in the world -- the Sapphire-bellied Hummingbird, the Honduran Emerald and the Juan Fernández Firecrown.

    Hummingbirds play an important role in pollinating a wide range of flowers in an ecosystem.  In some cases flower plants that contribute significantly to the sustainability of that ecosystem.

  3. I doubt it, they are all over the Americas including Canada. They are a super fine example of natural selection design, I once had a garden with them in when I worked in Venezuela.I can watch them for hours.

  5. The ruby throated humming bird is not endangered,at this point, some of the species may be. However, they are protected under the Migratory Bird Act.

  6. There are about 320 species of hummingbird..so not sure exactly WHICH species you are asking about.  There are several  Ecuadorian species that are endangered.
