Are Hyundai's any good?

What do you honestly think of hyundai's?

We have a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe and we love it. In my opinion, anything from around the year of 2000 to now are good cars for Hyundai. They are really making strides to better the quality of their products. Our Hyundai has about 15k on it and it still is running fine, like any other car should though. We will have to wait and see if it holds up to what other cars like Toyota or Honda last up to. We're hope full and so far, so good!

Hyundai's are very good cars. Year after year they have gotten better to the point they are very near the quality of Japanese cars but you still have an ignorant few who refuse to acknowledge anything past the 86' Excel. An example of this is the answer from the guy sofpan. He says Hyundai's aren't durable, of bad quality, etc but he OWNS A 98 ACCENT WHICH HE STILL DRIVES and hasn't owned any other Hyundai since.  

A shame because people like him are judging a whole company on one car made years ago. I think we should applaud a company trying to make a value priced quality car rather then look back a car made 10 years ago because there aren't many companies who think of value for the dollar along with quality when it comes to making cars.

my mother as a 2000 accent over 150k miles and does nothing but change the oil on it, i think now for the price of a new one and their warranty you can't go wrong everyone always says Toyota or Honda but i seem more blown toy/hon motors and trannys than hyundais but again everyones experience is different mine just happens to be good with a 10k new hyundai

I think Hyundai reliability is about where American cars are at now.  I have experience with the 90's models.  I had 2 '96 Accents on my car lot.  Both with between 100-110k miles.  Both engines ran like brand new.  The auto transmission on one lost 4th gear.  They were cheap, but well built.  The '95 Sonata with 75k on my lot was a nightmare.  Major engine problems, transmission problems, electrical problems.  At least it drove really nicely.  I would definitely consider a new Hyundai.  I doubt they are any worse than American cars now.  They seem well-built.  Reliability sounds pretty good from what I read.  They are less money than their competitors.  Sure, a Honda or Toyota MIGHT be more dependable, but the also cost several thousand more.  They are at least worth a test drive.

I have a 2000 Tiburon.  Got it brand new and I LOVED it for about the first 5 years, then all my problems started.  I have had 4 transmissions, my tail lights keep blowing have had everything in the tail lights replaced about 5 times and it still happens to this day.  My engine ticks like crazy even right after doing an oil change (the dealer told me its supposed to make this noise when its oil change time haha how funny) My check engine light is always on and when we finally got it fixed a dealer ripped the wires right out of the O2 sensor and then denied it.  Im not saying there arent good hyundai's out there but with my experience i will NEVER buy one again.

I have two of them and have no complaints what so ever. For one person who will say they are junk... you will have a 100 people standing in line saying how good Hyundai's are. I see this kind of comments no different as any other brand of car. Yes they are very good cars.

They are great cars.

The 90's Hyundai's and Kia's were bad.

From 2000-2002, they started to improve.

From 2003 and on, they were getting great reviews, winning awards and best in class awards.

I have driven old and new Hyundai's. They are great cars. With a warranty that long, the company must be confident that their cars will last that long.

Hyundai Motor Company has good ideas. I think this car manufacturer has yet to be uniform in it's production quality across the board.  Hyundai is the premiere ship builder on the globe. It is their ships that haul oil, transport cars and carry transatlantic cargo from one end of the world to the other end, literally.  Hyundai the shipbuilder has deep pockets to get it right on the automotive end, and the stones to take on any competitor, but they have not yet perfected the workmanship of their automotive product.  However, make no mistake about it, Hyundai is a beast, and so will their cars in the not to distant future.  Keep an eye on this South Korean shipbuilder, they are a dominant force in the making.  Hyundai will challenge the high technology content towards General Motors who has laid claim for it's own technically proficient luxury mark, Cadillac.

I had a 92 and a 93 excel and they were quick and got about 40 mpg. I was a pizza driver and I only filled the tank once a week. their top speed was about 93 with the 4 speed. I expect the newer Hyundai models are much better

basically they are cheap to buy,run and repair. The excel is probably my choice it ranges from around 1992 to 2001 models(an obvious seller no doubt) also with the back seats down, the boot is bigger and better acess than a holden or ford! great range of colours to choose from.

I own a Hyundai and my opinion is Negative. I have regret it. They don't last long, they are nor durable, the fuel consumption is bigger than what is written to its book etc, etc. See the link for details.

The bought of a car is very important -and expensive- issue. So, have a lot of thought about it.
