People in Iceland are extremely rude?

I've heard from people that the rudeness of Icelanders is so extreme, they make the French seem pleasant.

  1. Both French and Icelanders are perfectly and charming and friendly, in my experience. It must be the people you heard it from so.

  2. Haha no, they're not rude, but in their own language they don't seem to express as many courtesisms as people do in English. They're also very informal compared to English speakers (for example, everyone calls everyone else by their first or full-name, not their last names. So if you were meeting the Icelandic president, you'd refer to him as "Olafur Ragnar" - if I remember his name right).

They're really nice people, just a lot more informal than us English-speakers (their schools are the polar opposite to the ones we have in England, and I think even Americans would be a little surprised at how lax it is).

I don't know where you heard that from, but it's most certainly wrong.

  3. I have never been to iceland but I don't think they are regarded as rude, I think they are known for enjoying their booze and partying. But I do think generalizing is unintelligent.

I read this blog and the writer explains all about iceland, the people and its cultures

  4. I have never heard that.  I was under the impression that they were very warm and friendly.  Maybe I've heard wrong.

  5. On the contrary, they are considered to be very friendly and helpful.Have friends who have visited Iceland and they loved the country!
