The Irish pound or punt was part of the national culture and history - I understand the switch over in 2002 was fairly smooth - did no one resent becoming a small part of the larger EU?

  1. nope-I prefer the euro. I went to europe last year and it was so much easier without having to worry about getting cash exchanged and then wondering if you were being ripped off. Ireland has changed considerably over the past 10+ years-I think getting a new currency was another step forward to being a successful modern country. We may be a small part of Europe but we're just as important as the rest of the continent :D
