Are K&N air filters as good as they are touted to be?

yes, but they are expensive. and they require maintainance. like anything, dont maintain it and you'll pay the consequences

I cant tell a difference in them but I do know that they will void a warranty on a new car because they do let larger particles in the motor

For the money I don't really think so. I remember reading a lot of other places that said that the K&N filter actually allowed more debris to get through the filter than a plain old paper filter. It is hard for me to justify spending more than $30 for a filter that it will take me nearly 100k miles in regular filters to make that up. I did have a K&N on my Honda Civic with a cold air intake. I had to have it for that application though. I would save your money and stick with paper.

They're excellent - my husband always puts them on our new cars, friends and families cars also. Worth the money in our book!
