I'm traveling to Tennessee for X-Mas, i was wondering if they are dry counties....how dry are they?, I'm not familiar with the specifics of the laws but can we go to a liquor store and buy alcohol? I.E. wine, tequila, whiskey...not regular beer.

I live in Miami, where there is close to no regulations other than not being open on Sundays.....so I'm not informed about "dry counties"

  1. Okay here is how it works there are dry counties in which NO liquor, beer or wine may be purchased.  You cannot find it in any stores in these dry counties.  However there are other dry counties in which only a drink by the glass may be purchases.  Most the time the drink by the glass is just beer or wine not hard alchol however a few places might allow this.  In these dry counties you can have a drink however you cannot purchase a bottle of let’s say Vodka, or a 6 pack of beer.  You will only be able to purchase at resturants with your meal.  Knoxville is a dry county however they do allow you to purchase by the glass.  Here is a website that shows you all the counties that you can purchase liquor by the glass:

Here are the list of counties that do allow you to purchase retail liquor:

Hope this helps you have a good time!
