I've seen a Samsung HD Ready LCD TV.

But I was wondering, is it just another name for a HDTV?

Will it be compatible with Blu Ray?

  1. no.  LCD +Liquid Crystel Display

            HD = High definition.

    HD is the way forward in terms of technology - its basically the way forward in sharpness..

  3. typically a LCD TV will be an HDTV.

    Look at the resolution of the TV, if it is 720p or 1080p it is a HDTV.

    A Blu-Ray player is compatible with any TV, its recommended for a TV that is 1080p although a 720p will still look pretty good with Blu-ray. You can still play Blu-ray on a regular TV, but you wont benefit from the high def capabilities it has.

  4. There are LCD's and Plasma TV's. Both can display the top HDTV formats (1080i or 1080p).

    The "HD Ready" just means it's ready to receive the HD input signal from your cable or satellite provider.

    Most tv's are "HD Ready". Very few come with the HD tuner built in.

    Yes, it will work with Blu-Ray, but for the best picture, you should have a "Full HD" or "1080P" tv.

    Hope this helps.
