Thanks Selina. What we've decided to do is park OUR car as close to the steps as possible, and NO-ONE can park in the spare space, as having "friendly words" with Londoners just causes war, (been there, done that) and we consider playing them at their own game is the only language Londoners really understand.

  1. yep they are. im from newcastle in the north east. come here. the friendliest people around :)

  2. Wait your time.Get your friends round & do exactly what he does when you want it,When he complains he will realise what you are saying. If not kick his **** for being so inconsiderate.

  3. No,we aren't all arrogant, pushy and selfish. I would never behave in the way you described.

I had a boyfriend from Birmingham and he hated Londoners! Anytime he came down to see me he felt paranoid whenever we went out and kept feeling pushed around, often when other people were just minding their own business.

Being inconsiderate can be a survival strategy in a big city, but intelligent people who move elsewhere should adjust their behaviour accordingly.

  4. I Ain't inconsiderate Gov,

normally us Londoners are really friendly I reckon you are just unlucky,or Ave Ya Done something to Nark Them!

  5. every big city all over the world is like this.

  6. If you have ever been to London then you will appreciate that it is not possible for normal and considerate people to survive there.Being pushy is a survival technique..without which no one would ever get a place on the tube, a taxi or a meal..let alone a drink or a parking space! The only thing to do is to be friendly but pushy back..as politely as possible since you have to live with these people now. Next time you have a visitor go and ask your neighbour to move his car a little so that they can park where they ought to be able to..don't make a big thing about it being a communal space, if he claims that it is his then tell him that he has been misled ..keep your cool and stay on the high ground. If you are not expecting a visitor then do not complain..but if you are then repeat the request that he move and eventually he should decide for himself that it would be easier if he parked differently in the first place. If not then perhaps you and your other neighbours can begin parking so that he is the one inconvenienced?

I understand why Londoners are pushy but why they are so arrogant really escapes me; fortunately the worst of them are never really happy out of London and tend to either go back or move on as soon as they can.

  7. i suspect this is a public highway...so he pays his road tax & he is allowed to park there - you & him have rights to park there.

your statement is very sweeping & quite insulting...you wouldn't like it if we made nasty comments about Cornish people would you?

  8. ERRR IM A LONDONER AND IM SURE YOUVE GOT A BAD DEAL DONT TAR US ALL WITH THE SAME BRUSH GEEZER

THE WOMAN NEXT DOOR TO ME COMES FROM CORNWALL AND SHES AS DAFT AS A BRUSH BUT A LOVELY LADY IN A WAY YOU COULD BE CALLED A RACIST AND WE CANT HAVE THAT  SO LIVE AND LET LIVE

IF YOU MOAN AGAIN I,LL SEND THE BOYS ROUND OK?

    pmsl

  9. in London it's not called being pushy, it's called being "self confident" or "assertive" ... I've lived in London for over 30 years now and have never really learned how to do it because I was brought up in country ways like you''re talking about ... unfortunately that gets you nowhere in London ... I'm not sure any London-born-and-bred person would ever really understand so the only way is to intimidate them back

your story did bring a wry smile to my face ... we've got exactly the same situation here in our communal garage at the flats where I live

  10. Yes, they are usually known for being a bit rude compared to everywhere else in the UK. If they do it again just sit outside their house and blast your own horn until they come out. And repeat this behaviour as many times as necessary until they get the message. Don't let them get away with it. lol :-)

  11. Please don't assume that because you have had bad experiences with Londoners that we are all bad. I can understand your frustration but you must take action before you really lose your cool. Maybe getting a copy of the rights of way where you live and giving it to them might help. Also, try not to antagonise him as he's had X number of years living in London and you learn to survive sometimes by being aggressive. Some Londoners are really great people from all walks of life in a racial cauldron who for the most part get on very well. Like anything it'a always the few who mess it for the rest. I'm originally from Devon so we could be neighbours. Good luck with sorting it out. Cathy
