you would have to be a fool to disagree that MMA fighters are better fighters. 1st of all they can do is punch. Bobing & weaving gets you kneed in the face in MMA. Boxers arent used to checking leg kicks or stuffing takedowns. Also boxers arent used to checking kicks from the side.

Even Bernard Hopkins said that boxers stand 0 chance in MMA. Boxing is dying with the youth of America.Boxing is your grandfathers sport. These videos are proof that boxers dont stand a chance in MMA.

  1. I'm a fan of both,  so I will defend both.  Of course MMA is a more complete fighting style,  it was designed to be that way,  just like boxing was designed to use padded gloves and hands only. Were comparing apples to oranges here and it's not fair.

  2. You are assuming the fight is under MMA rules.  If you put the best MMA fighters (St. Pierre, Anderson Silva, Fedor, Rampage)  in a boxing match they would get knocked out by an average boxer within 3 minutes.  So it really depends on the rules of the fight.  Its two different sports like baseball and football.  And boxing made a resurgance last year mayweather vs. de la hoya 1.5 million buys on ppv.  UFC is lucky to get 200,000

  3. Well, of course a MMA fighter is better than a boxer in a MMA sport. It would be like having Michael Jordan trying to play quarterback for the Chicago Bears. MMA and boxing are two different sports with their own rules, so of course a boxer won't fair too well in MMA. It the same time a lot of MMA fighters won't fair too well in boxing and it's rules.

  4. The hatred and disdain put forth for these MMA fighters is dumb.    Check out Ali vs Inoki.  The guy was mainly Karate and Ali watched him spar then demanded special rules to tilt in his favor and still never got close to the guy.  There is no reason why these two sports cannot peacefully coexist but some rabid fans and boxers just will not give fighters their due.  They both deserve all due respect.

Three thumbs down already?  I expected more judging by the answers from some contributors that sounded butt hurt that someone dared to mention MMA as a viable combat sport.  Chuck Liddell a good boxer?  He is a counter puncher with sloppy hands that wins with a big LOOPING right hand.  He has great power in his hands but a boxer he isn't.  It's been said numerous times put a boxer in the cage and he's done, put a MMA fighter in the boxing ring and he's done.  BOXING IS NOT THE BE ALL END ALL OF COMBAT SPORTS!

  5. mma ia absolutely beter fighters because they learn and do more in ammma ring than boxing, also mma fighters have to have specific physical qability's to their stylels like grappler, striker, or freestyle fighter , on the other hand boxing has its own main type of physical training used by just about all boxers, and mma is safer because if you get knocked out you shouldnt get back up you should go to the hospital.

  6. they are two different sports, mma fighter will be knocked out in a boxing match, boxing will always be a better sport that shows true SKILLs and TALENT, which i don't personally see in ufc or mma..

  7. just watched the video of butterbean great video he must have out-weighted the ittle lad by 150lbs!!

Id say MMA fight have better over all fitness and body strength due to the ground game but boxers such as Hatton are machines try going 12 rounds full pelt of a bag...that does'nt hit back!! killer

  8. its like comparing apples and oranges....its not even close to the same thing....

woody made a good point saying its like if MJ was going to play QB for the bears...except we can make an exact comparison...which was the greatest basketball player of all time playing baseball in the white sox minor leagues...he was awful for the most part...but if you put any of those minor leagers on the court with him they would stand no chance...

boxers would get killed in a MMA match, and MMA fighters would get knocked out somewhere in the first 3 rounds against a TOP CLASS professional boxer

  9. LOL at Elmer's answer!  Check out the video he posted- I couldn't stop laughing!  To answer the question, no, MMA is a bunch of white guys who can't fight that got tatoos and tried to act tough, so they created a "sport" that appeals to other white guys that can't fight.  They go to UFC because they CAN'T fight, NOT because they are better fighters.  They don't want to stand up and fight like real men, so instead they hump, mount, and grab each other's nutsacks until the other quits- doesn't sound like real fighting to me...  You mention that boxers aren't used to getting kicked and all that stuff, but MMA "fighters" aren't used to fighting anyone with skill who know how to cover up and defend themselves.  Most of the guys in those leagues are guys that couldn't make it in boxing, so they went to something that is only a half-step above wrestling.  The guy that everyone calls the "pound for pound best MMA fighter"- Anderson Silva, actually tried boxing but couldn't do it, so he turned to MMA.  Silva also wanted to have a boxing match with Roy Jones, Jr.- even at this stage of Roy's career, he would put a beat down on Silva and the guys at the UFC knew it too.  Dana White said that he would "veto" any action that Silva tried to fight outside of the UFC because he is under contract, but the fact of the matter is that he, as well as everyone else over there, did not want to see a way past his prime boxing great put a beatdown on an overhyped guy that is the best that the UFC has to offer

  10. And a Baseball player wouldn't have a chance against a Basketball player in a Basketball game. Can you see the absurdity of trying to compare the two sports. In a boxing match the boxer would win. In a MMA fight the MMA fighter would win.

  11. All I know is that Floyd or Oscar could afford to hire Chuck Liddell as a body guard.

  12. I finally realized what's up with MMA fighters and their fans, and what makes them so trollish. It's a coping mechanism for their latent homosexuality.   But you ain't foolin' me.   Enjoy this video.

  13. This is an absurd statement, boxing is an entirely different sport with entirely different rules, dana white is just trying to get some of the fan base away from boxing and you guys are falling for it, no MMA fighter would stand a chance against a boxer under boxing rules, MMA fighters are good for take downs and for ground and pound but sorely lack in overall boxing abilty, boxing requires a strong chin, decent foot work and a reasonable defense and very few MMA fighters have all these things in their favour Anderson Silva is deadly because of his knees and striking combinations but if he fought against someone like roy jones under boxing rules he would have a new a**s instead of a face in three wounds he would be forced to use his gloves to block and he would not have his muay thai clinch to rely on.....and all the other MMA guys would suck badly at boxing (the only good boxers i have seen are rampage and chuck and they are mediocre by boxing standards) people need to stop drawing these stupid comparisons MMA will never take over, Boxing is an estabilished sport in the world with a loyal fan base that will not end anytime soon, people like Dempsey,Jack Johnson,Ali,Marciano and Tyson have made the sport extremely popular MMA is just now starting to get some buzz, most MMA fighters don't even get paid that much anyway, the richest MMA guys are Liddell and couture and they are not even worth 10 million dollars combined, whereas Mayweather jr made over 20 million just play fighting on wrestlemania and De La Hoya could buy the entire UFC just with money from his piggy bank, Heck even less heralded fighters like David haye make five times more than any UFC fighter from just one fight.

  14. You cannot compare the two.  In a boxing ring, the boxer wins.  In MMA ring, that fighter wins.  I love boxing myself and you should have more respect for boxing than that.  I would have loved to have seen one of those MMA fighters an the ring against a young Muhammad Ali in 1965 if it could have happened.  Ali would have made any of them in a boxing ring look like a fool.
