Are Mango Leaves toxic to human?

I read you take the tender red soft leaves which smell like a spicy ripe mango. But in india they stopped feeding them to cows because they were posion, are they toxic to humans. What can I do with mango leaves, I have a tree in the yard.

First of all do you even know the difference between toxic and poisonous?

Poisonous usually refers to something that is engested!

Toxic is something that travels trough the circulation system!

For Ex. Rattlesnake toxin has no affect if it is engested.

the leaves are given in the treatment of burns, scalds and diabetes. Mangiferin from the leaves has been reported to possess anti inflammatory, diuretic,chloretic and cardiatonic activities and displays a high antibacterial activity against gram positive bacteria. it has been recommended as a drug in preventing dental plaques.
