Are Melbourne heading for the wooden spoon, your thoughts?

I am a Melbourne supporter and this is the last time that they frustrate me, I watched the most insipid display of football from a footy team, the hawks were quick and eager, while the Melbourne players(if you can call them that) were slow and at times disinterested with the game, I'm not going to allow myself to be frustrated this year if thats the best they can do then thats it I wont be watching any of their games this year.

  1. Yep. Supported them for over 50 years but lost all faith. Looks like I will be supporting Melbourne Victory or perhaps Melbourne Storm. At least they look like footballers with a coach that cares.  Not like this insipid bunch of no-hopers.  Too much money for too little effort and they want more!!!  Get off the grass.  Time to give all of them the flick and start again with new young talent that will play for the jumper not the money. May win one game for the year if the other team forgets to front.

  2. Hey a fellow Arsenal supporter from Australia who watches AFL (or at least i do occasionally)!

Yes Melbourne were terrible tonight. I'm off to bed at 9pm. Waking up at 3 for the Chelsea Arsenal match.

    =D =D =D =D =D

  3. No

Dont worry better to get your worst performance out of the road early

With a top 8, momentum in the last half is more important

As a hawthorn supporter does this evenings victory mean we will win the flag

    No

    Melbourne the spoon

    No

Good luck to the Dees next weekend

  4. yeah , i agreed with the saints supporter comments ... it is frustrating watching your team lose , but we have a culture of mediocrity at our club.. we have had good year , bad year syndrome for my entire life( im 28) we a have bounced around the middle of the ladder for too long.. now would be the time for us to really bottom out . for about 3 years. then we should get some decent drft picks and have time to develop some 18-21 yo . time to bite the bullet ..

  5. Oh, they were TERRIBLE tonight against a Hawks team without some key stars.

It will be a bit sad to see them get the spoon in their 150th yr, but I think it's definitly gon' happen.

Can't wait till next week when they play the Doggies. :)

  6. I'm another Demon supporter... was appalled by our performance, but I'll stick with us.  On the brighter side, my father offered to shout me tickets to the grand final when the Dees next make it.. whether I'll be dead by then or not remains to be seen.

You know your side is in trouble when your best player (Neitz) is older than the Chinese phonetic system, and our future captain (McLean) gets banned from our training ground carpark and is involved in at least 10 nightclub incidents a year.  Jared Rivers was missing in the match against the Hawks, so hopefully he will give us some spark.  We looked dreadful against them though, and looks like another shocking year coming.

Tough life supporting the Dees, they are the side that always will do well, but never do.

  7. It's not good for the red and the blue.15th or 16th. Rudder not straight, no real leadership. Neitz, a statesman and ornament of the game has too much to carry. Yze, you're 30 now...get a decent hair cut. Johnstone will be missed. I miss the Lovett boys and Sean White.

  8. YEP YOU BETCHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. melbourne carlton

one of these will be spoon winners this year

  10. yeah i think so, that was a poor effort vs the hawks

  11. Wow... they played a terrible game. Its not looking very good at the moment. I guess it is a good thing that the season has plenty more games to go. Unless they do that week in and week out...

  12. There is a lot of work for Melbourne to do... Likely wooden spooners. Who can they beat?

    Long time Melb supporter

  13. My Thoughts were (before rd1) and still are (present) that Melbourne will finish 16th in 2008.

and now I strongly think that Melbourne will get the wooden spoon because of their performance against Hawthorn.

I also think that the two Melbourne Supporters who answered this question by slagging off their team should be ashamed of themselves. Ronald McReagen & ncis16

I support StKilda and I know exactly how hard it is to watch your team lose week in and week out. Saints finished 14th in 1994 and 1995 and also for THREE YEARS STRAIGHT the saints spent time at the bottom of the ladder during 2000-2002.

Melbourne are CLEARLY trying their best. No team goes into a match with the aim to play like that (against hawthorn rd1,2008). Their problem is that there are 15 better teams in the AFL and because of this they will get the early draft picks (eg Cale Morton) and will 'rebuild' their future.

MELBOURNE DEMONS SUPPORTERS, please continue to support your club, even if it means disappointment almost every week. DO NOT switch to another code because that is just disgusting (especially since rugby is such a s-hit sport!!). Melbourne will be a strong club again, just be patient.

  14. round 1 of the year just a poor start for melbourne thats all unrest in camp give them a go 21 rounds to go anyone can get of to a bad start

  15. I have been a Melbourne supporter for almost 20 years and i am sick to death of them.

Nothing changes. Substandard players getting payed bucket loads to be utterly useless year in, year out.

I have never said this before, but i am actually ASHAMED to be a melbourne supporter tonight. To lose by 104 points, against a side that is missing four key players in round 1 is ******** pathetic.

I've heard a lot of hot air about how impressive Bailey is as a coach, but i have seen them twice in the preseason and they played as they did today, as if they didn't give a *****..

If Bailey doesnt install some spirit into this team in the next 6 weeks then we should p**s him off too...Im ******** sick to death of watching these s-hit kickers play with NO heart..

Some of the laziest people in Australia are contracted to the MFC...I hope someone gives them all a swift kick up the ***, because what they are delivering is an insult to the history of this club, but i doubt some of these f-uckwits like Sylvia & McLean actually care...

I am ******** ropeable in case you didn't notice....

  16. funny how every one isn't saying Richmond any more, i always thought the tigers barring bad injuries will be around 10th -8th.

Melbourne have got nothin mate, i know it's hard to take, and i know, being a Richmond boy, but fair dinkum, i watched that game at the golf club y'day, they are timid and that Carrol, *** me, he should be kicked in the ***, for that hair cut alone, they're in trouble big time mate.

hows ya dream team pal, games on pal, lol

  17. Melbourne needs to get there heads out of there @$$
