Given the news that Prince Harry was in a car driving well over 100mph is it the case the members of the Royal Family have a special legal dispensation which allows them to drive at this speed?

  1. They rule Britain and can choose to do anything they want .... and that includes driving at a speed of their choice. They are accountable to no one.

  2. No...they just get away with it because they are royalty. Sucks for the rest of us doesn't it!

  3. Given what happened to his mother you would think that this 'black sheep' prince would be into safe driving.

However, when you are the product of centuries of in-breeding you cannot expect too much in the way of intelligence!

  4. In English Law, the maxim is that "The Queen can do no wrong".  You may have noticed that on official business, the Queen's car has no number plates.  All laws passed in Parliament expressly exclude the Sovereign. This provision does not apply to anyone else, therefore, members of the Royal Family can and have been prosecuted for offences committed as in the case of the Princess Royal.

  5. Nope they should be banned

  6. no they have to follow the law too

  7. no one should, but they do. we all pay tax but the queen dont.

  8. No, they are bound by the same laws, but the CPS won't prosecute.

Another reason to dissolve the monarchy.

  9. idk but it sounds like it.

  10. They should not be allowed to. If all of us have to follow the law, they should as well. Royals should not be exempt and be able to do as they pleased. I thought that was clearly stated in the Magna Carta showing that royalty was not above the law.

  11. not in UK in less you are on a track

  12. i was under the impression it was "the queens highway" so i guess yes. (we all know legally its no)

I can't help think that a lot of criticism is being placed on the royal protection officers for following him, but what are they supposed to do? they can't loose him even for a minute which is difficult when you are in a range rover and he is in an Audi r8 super car.

  13. Yes, Charlie wrecked  a plane on the Mull of Kintyre

  14. The law applies to all her Majesty's subjects, including her own family.

However, is PC Plod going to fix a ticket on a member of the Royal Family, especially one such as HRH Prince Harry.

If I were said PC Plod, I would simply tell Harry to buzz off and don't get caught again.

  15. He wasn't driving!  Please read your own article. There is no credible evidence of the speed of the vehicles or even who was in them.

The evidence of someone who "claimed" to be travelling at 70mph??? in the middle lane of the M4 must be regarded as highly suspect anyway.  How did he estimate a speed difference of over 30 m.p.h.?

Other royals including the Duke of Edinburg have been done for speeding in the past, but you do need proper evidence.

The Queen is not above the Law. Those claiming that she is don't understand the position of the monarchy.

  16. Apart from HM the Queen who is above the law

(since she is the law!) everyone else can be

    done for speeding etc.

Prince Harry was lucky not to be done for speeding.

It would teach him a lesson if he was charged with it.

  17. it WASNT harry who was driving

he wasnt even in the car he was in the car behind it was the protection officer who was driving

    PLEASE GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT

  18. No, Princess Anne was nicked for speeding.

  19. Only in a helicopter..

  20. i'm not trying to defend gorgeous prince harry, but it may have been somebody else. the eyewitness/victim said that he "estimated that they were goin 100 mph". doesn't mean they actually were. and second of all, how did he know it was prince harry and his body guards? hmmm? would he even have time to see their faces if they were really driving 100 mph and he was trying to protect his family? it could have been anybody. it was night time after all! BTW that car looks ******* hot!! i would definitely do 100 on the highway in that baby!

  21. no one is above the law not even police officers unless they have the blues and twos on

  22. I know the queen can't be tried for a crime.. You can't have the case of the Crown against the crown.

I also know that companies can be started under royal charter.. Such as the Bank fo England and then they don't have to disclose any of their accounting or even ownership details...

Not sure if it extends to the Princes but I think this kind of behaviour would be frowned upon by the Family.. They are clearly on a nice little earner here they don't need negative a negative image going out to the people.. We all know what happens to people that embarass the royal family.

  23. If one prince can 'borrow' a helicopter to go and visit his girlfriend, I don't see why another can't break the speed limits.  Laws were  designed for us yoiks,, after all.
