Let me just say first off that, the study had ‘nothing whatsoever’ to do with reality TV but was a serious study of Human sexual activities and practices!

  1. When was  the last time you saw someone on reality TV whom you actually liked?  I wouldn't take TV as a sign of the degeneracy of humanity!

  2. I suspect the kind of people who want to be on "reality television" programs are insecure attention hounds in the first place, so the statistics may be skewed toward the "cheating" side.

  3. Well, no.  things will never change.  Cheating seems like a piece of human nature, and just like with crime, there will always be people who will violate the rules.

I wonder, though, why that study (or you, in you're retelling of the experiment) didn't mention anything about the women with whom the men cheated...?

  4. this stud only mentions that the women were chosen for fidelity and I suspect that the men were deliberately chosen for their high risk of roaming.

studies such as this ONLY prove what the researcher intends for them to study.  if they chose a mix to ensure unfaithfully men are highly represented then its certain that men will be unfaithful

Many studies are not openly and randomly worked as pre-selection criteria are chosen to ensure that what the research wants to prove happens.

never trust a single study, never trust statistics.

if another researcher chose MEN who were likely to be faithfully along with women likely to wander then the  second study would eventually show the opposite of the first as it was engineered to do that.

a study in the US (where circumcision is promoted) found that having  circumcised men halves the risk of HIV in transmission in Africa. whereas a similar French study(where circumcision is discouraged) in the same area found that the risk of HIV transmission was due to penile cleanliness and not circumcision. (the common fact being that circumcised men more often have easier hygiene).

The moral of the tale is that study WILL set out to prove what the researcher want s it to as they select their participants according to rules that will make their chosen outcome more likely.  A study setting out to prove a theory is always flawed due to this criteria.

A study to discover without preconceptions does not have pre-selection and so will more likely give the true unaffected outcome.

So in answer YES if you want to prove the opposite you can, but if you want to find out the truth you have to do many studies over which you have no selection but random sample (for example a series of small rural towns)

  5. Who did they cheat WITH? Each other?

It takes two to tango. If everyone in the community was in a relationship then the women must have done some cheating too.

That said, I think it's horrible for anyone to cheat on their partner when the expectation is a monogamous relationship.

  6. Any port in a storm, why not?

  7. Obviously some of the women cheated too.  Was it more or less than the men.  If it's less it means that the unfaithful women had to have more partners.

Also for the men was it 12% + 26%= 38% cheaters?

Did any of the relationships break up during the two years meaning that in some instances it was not cheating?

I could not find this using google.  Does the original poster have any links?

  8. If you want to get on one knee instead of two for commitment, propose. Otherwise, give polygamy a chance.

  9. If the men cheated doesn't that mean the women cheated too.

  10. THEY WILL NEVER CHANGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  11. Understand that 12% and 25% of that specific group is not the whole world; keep that in mind.

  12. Look here, we can conduct all the studies we want to involving the behaviors of man (meaning men and women). But when it all boils down it, it all depends on the person. If he or she chooses to be faithful to the man or woman they so desire, they'll do it. If they stray, it's because they wanted too. It has nothing to do with the s*x of the person, but the more with the will of the individual.
