Are Moroccans ? Arab?

Arabs are people who speak Arabic as their first language. Most Moroccans speak Arabic as that is the primary language taught in public schools. Educated Moroccans are also fluent in French, and many of the mountain-Berbers can only speak Berber. From my observations while visiting there 5 times, Morocco is a melting pot much like the United States....many ethnic groups and blends,  and many people speak several languages (perhaps not fluently, but well-enough to work in stores, hotels, and other tourist businesses).

depends who you ask...

People from the Gulf area get offended if a Moroccan calls himself Arab so according to Arab's from the middle east no they are not. They do not consider any north africans arab.

If you ask a Moroccan if they are arab some say yes and some say know. Being able to speak arabic does not make a person "arab" Sudani's speak arabic but many people do not consider them arabs.

My husband is Moroccan, he does not consider himself "arab" he says he is Moroccan. BUT he considers me Arab because I am Turkish. Turkish do not consider themself Arab, but many arab's from the gulf consider us arab. We just say that we are "arab kinda" or cousins of Arabs.

So it depends on the person and what they consider arab. So their is no right answer to this question.

Ok. whats confusing you is the term "arab".. being arab doesnt define one particular race of people.. it means people whose first language is arabic..

So the moroccans that speak arabic are arabs.. but there are berbers and french moroccans also.. and maybe a smattering of some other group type..
