Are MtA and FtA Procedures Possible?

People are born male and female. Wither a person self identifies with their gender or not determines if a person is “normal” or a transsexual.

But what about androgynes? Is androgyny a form of “gender”? Do people self identify as being both masculine and feminine… is it possible for a person who is biologically really masculine or really feminine looking to have feminine or masculine tendencies?

Yes, so if a person wants to self identify and be treated in society as this “dual gender” do you think that they should be able to undergo a procedure (surgery or hormones?) in order to unite their inner with their outer identities?

  1. ....this is what I would do if I had a backbone.  Oh, and if...I knew how to.  This is a very good question, though.  And, you're probably not getting a lot of answers because no one knows?  I'd like to know more about this, too.

  2. Yes.  However, you have to find a gender therapists who's willing to work with you.  They exist, but you will have to look.

  3. Androgyny can be a form of gender, yes.  However, like being cisgendered (regular gender identity) or transsexual, androgynous people are like that because that's how they are and not because it's some trendy thing to do.    Androgyny, like transsexuality, does fall under the transgender umbrella.  It is about how the person feels psychologically and not necessarily physically.  People who are physically androgynous naturally are usually intersexed.

Androgynous people see themselves as a blend of male and female gender.  They will express that by some of the clothes they wear, activities, etc.  However, many are happy with their bodies and still live their life as their birth s*x, although a little more colorfully than most.  Some will have surgeries (think Marylin Manson) or take hormones to help their presentation though.  It's all a matter of what they prefer.

  4. Absolutely!  Cross-s*x hormones align body and mind for many of us in the gender middle ground.   I too am two-spirit, 3rd gender, etc and express masculine and feminine traits openly.  My wife calls me fruitcake but I prefer spicecake.  Its all fun btw.

  5. I would like your opening statement better if you had gone on to say, "People are born male and female" and everywhere in between.  After all, I was born an Androgyne and believe me, I was not born exactly male nor female, but quite in between.  My parents raised me as a male, but the reality is, I was much more female than ever a male.  So, I live my life as a female now.  That still doesn't mean I am entirely female, at least not in the traditional way people think of females.  I have had some corrective surgery to my genitalia, but I do not need GRS surgery, even though some doctors have suggested that to me.  They think I need a v****a for some reason. :-)  I do not.  I had to search far and wide to find a doctor who was willing to do surgery on me but only what I wanted to have done.  All but one GRS specialists insisted I have GRS surgery to include a v****a.  No thanks, I don't need one.  So, in my thinking, of course being an Androgyne is a form of gender.  Yes, I have both masculine and feminine traits.  Mind you, not in even distribution though.  And a big YES, we should be able to have what surgery we need to be who we know we are and not have surgery that we do not want.  I have been successful in this, but it was not easy.
