Question:

Are Multiple Personality Disorder and Dissociative Identity Disorder the same thing?

I'm interested in psychology, and in some research, I've seen that Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is the more P.C. term for Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD). But then I've also seen stuff saying that they're completely different. Anyone know?

Thanks!

  1. yeah they are generally the same thing. i say generally because they changed multipole personality to disocciative lately, but probably added for characteristics to it so its a different diagnoses. theres a handbook you should really look into for all the mental disorders, its really interesting! go to a bookstore and read it. im not sure exactly what its called, anyone else know?
