Are Muslims allowed to bow?

Question

I read the Muslims aren't allowed to bow for anyone except for Allah. I am a violinst and I am inside of an orchestra and we usually bow for the audience afterwards...what do I do?

First of all I will advice U to get any other job and it is not suitable 4 a  Muslimah work in musical group in any case.

And regarding bowing:   any kind of action from Ur body which done 4 Tazeem ( to show greatness of that person or make it out of respect) is not allowed in Islam Tazeem respect in special way must be only 4 Allah

So bow is an action by which the inferiors paying h**r to the superiors which not allowed  so should not do this just wave ur hand or do something ells .

May Allah give hedayah to U and Ur audience & guide us all .

Tafseer Ibn Katheer

Taken from Surah Baqarah

The Prostration was before Adam but the Obedience was to Allah

Qatadah commented on Allah's statement,

[وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَـئِكَةِ اسْجُدُواْ لاًّدَمَ]

(And (remember) when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves before Adam.'')

"The obedience was for Allah and the prostration was before Adam. Allah honored Adam and commanded the angels to prostrate before him.'' Some people said that this prostration was just a prostration of greeting, peace and honor, hence Allah's statement,

[وَرَفَعَ أَبَوَيْهِ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ وَخَرُّواْ لَهُ سُجَّدَا وَقَالَ يأَبَتِ هَـذَا تَأْوِيلُ رُؤْيَـى مِن قَبْلُ قَدْ جَعَلَهَا رَبِّى حَقًّا]

(And he (Prophet Yusuf) raised his parents to the throne and they fell down before him prostrate. And he said: "O my father! This is the interpretation of my dream aforetime! My Lord has made it come true!'') (12:100)

The practice of prostrating was allowed for previous nations, but was repealed for ours. Mu`adh said to the Prophet , "I visited Ash-Sham and found that they used to prostate before their priests and scholars. You, O Messenger of Allah, are more deserving of prostration.'' The Prophet said,

«لَا لَوْ كُنْتُ آمِرًا بَشَرًا أنْ يَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ لَأَمَرْتُ الْمَرْأةَ أنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوجِهَا مِنْ عِظَمِ حَقِّهِ عَلَيْهَا»

(No. If I was to command any human to prostrate before another human, I would command the wife to prostrate before her husband because of the enormity of his right on her.)

And sis, instrumental music isn't Islaamically allowed!  So u might want to look into that when you are able inshallah.

Dear, I tried to tell you. In this sickness called Islam...music and musical instruments are banned (as is dancing). They are haram! I was born Muslim, I was married Muslim, I lived Muslim for 38 years...it is the worship of anti-Christ and Satan. Muhommad was anti-Christ! You have been warned!

Bowing down is a sense when you go into Sujjod (prostration) No one deserves that other than Allah!

Hi. Bowing is not the same as prostrating. When you prostrate, you place your forehead on a floor or mat and that is only done for Allah. When you bow, you slightly bend while standing up, and that is just a social gesture--- it by no means represent prostration or "sajdah" as Muslims call it. So don't worry, it's not against Islam if you bow.

And for those who answered this question incorrectly, I encourage you to understand the difference between prostration and bowing, they're two different things.

Sorry sis, no bowing except to Allah. I am in a Karate class and usually we are supposed to bow before the judge or the trainer, but we have a muslim teacher and she says we shouldn't bow except to Allah.

Do you have to bow ?It is not obligatory to do it ,don't do it please just for God.It will not decrease your personality and avoiding it makes you closer and lover to God.
