  3. Actually they do make sound but are just comparatively quieter than other swans.

  4. Of course not! Swans are breathing birds and while they aren't able to articulate too many sounds they can make enough noise to scare off preditors. Like ducks and geese they can make a loud honking type of sound. If you want to find out, try getting to close to a swan with a clutch of babies!

    Actually- although they tend to be quieter than other kinds of swans, they are not actually mute, but do vocalize.
