Are Nadal and Federer friends off court?

In interviews they speak about how they admire each others game, but what about friendship especially now Nadal is winning everything.

Yes they are :) They have the greatest respect for each other and get on very well offcourt. Its great to have such nice guys at that top in tennis, Although Rafa`s english isnt sooo great lol he says he gets on pretty well with Roger. They chat quite a lot in the locker room and apparently Federer gave Nadal advice about starting his own charity :)! Vamos Rafa a great guy and athlete, i really cant see why ppl hate him!!! There is nothing to dislike about him!!! Rafa and Rog are both top guys !!!

I don't think that Nadal winning everything is an issue. Clay has always been nadal's fortress for the past few years and the Wimbledon final was very close. It could have gone either way. They haven't met each other since that. Federer has lost his form and the number 2 is expected to win if the number one isn't.

I believe they like each other and have a tennis friendship and get on together on tour - but I wouldn't say they would be great friends. Both have to keep their distance to maintain a rivalry. To be honest I think its Fed who maintains that distance a tad more. I don't think they'd hang out or anything- but Roger has mentioned his close friendships with the swiss players, particulary Stan, and also other people like Hbarty. I think Rafa and Robredo are quite close. I can't imagine anyone could maintain a strong friendship and an intense rivalry - it would just interfere too much! Of course Roger wouldn't of wanted anyone but Nadal to take over his position - he says he deserves it, which is nice. I doubt hes gonna stop talking to him now! Haha.

Yes,they do share a very good friendship because they have a tremendous amount of mutual respect for each other as athletes and what they bring to tennis. Rafa in particular has always admired Federer and he respects him very much and Federer himself has exclaimed how happy he is for Rafa and he deserves to be number 1 and everything else he accomplishes. I doubt if they get together over coffee or anything, but at tournaments they are always talking in the locker rooms. It's wonderful to see that.

well i don't think they call each other to to go get a cup of coffee, but i think they are very friendly when they meet @ tournaments

They are still great friends and hopefully nothing will ever come between them. It's a sport... you have to be competitive.

I read something like this once. The top tennis players are kind and courteous to each other. Cause if you hated someone alot and you had to pair with them for some reason that would not be good.
