I am part mexican american and I was going to make a trip to Talladega this october but I hear the fans are rowdy down there. Do U think it will be safe to attend or will I be heckled because of my heritage. I am a big Nascar fan of Jeff Gordon and JJ Yeley. Will they be nice to me or should I call the Trip Off??

  1. they're not as racist as you are paranoid. If your a NASCAR fan, your automatically accepted in "the crowd" because NASCAR fans all have something in common. Go. Have fun. Drink a beer, and enjoy the race. We're all on your side.

  2. Probably safer if you wear Yeley gear and not that Gordon stuff. j/k lol. I bet you will have a blast!

  3. It's not true that the fans in Alabama are Rowdy.  They're mostly Junior.  :  )

  4. An-delay An delay Momma Ei Ei  Jocho!

  5. If they're anything like the people who harrassed that

young lady for her race AND her gender you won't have much fun.

    - "Do you like to be stereotyped? Well neither do WE."  HAHAHAHA!  WE? You stereotype your race in the SAME sentence you complain about it. Found that pretty funny.

    - "You have been here long enough .  .  ."  She ASSUMES you're fresh off the boat and were not born here. NOPE no racism. You should be AOK {extreme sarcasm}

Just come to L.A. and go to a Laker game. We'll take care of you.

  6. I have been to the Talladega race at least a dozen times and I have never seen anyone questioning another person race or gender. You might get friendly heckling about your driver preference but that's about it .

  7. yes

  8. If you go with this kind of attitude, yeah, but just go and have a good time and there will be no problems.

  9. who cares just enjoy the sport for racing and go to a race and ignore anyone who does anything which is nothing because Ive never seen anything happen in the 20 races Ive been to

  10. Just go! OMG...Believe it or not, I've actually seen with my own two eyes, people of different ethnic backgrounds at actual live in person nascar races!!! Do you like to be stereotyped? Well neither do we!!!

  11. You will be heckled more for being a jeff gordon fan than anything else but just suck it up Im a gordon fan, just look at there face when he's leading it looks like there dog just died. Definitely go it is the trip of a lifetime and enjoy Alabama the Beautiful while your here. Roll Tide by the Way.

  12. Hold on!!!  JJ Yeley has TWO fans????

    PS...it's "raCist"...with a C

  13. you would only be heckled by the non-Jeff Gordon fans.

  14. if they heckle you it wil be the driver(s) you cheer for

  15. Just bring some of those tacos with ya and you'll be alright. You know we can't resist real Mexican food. We might as well stereotype while we are being called racist.

  16. Talladega is my home track and I go whenever I can. I always see a good number of African American and Latino fans there. I even once saw an Arab couple in Muslim dress once. To my knowledge there has never been an incident of racial violence or harrassment there. If there were trouble NASCAR might try to cover it up but you can bet the Birmingham media would be all over it. There will probably be some drunk and disorderlies there but by and large everyone is friendly and well behaved. Since they started banning people for life for throwing beer cans on the track and other drunken nonsense, people have really settled down. Don't worry about your safety. The place will be crawling with security. Go and have a good time.

  17. you need to stop listening to the left wing media and ESPN. These groups HATE NASCAR and the south. Try being a white person driving through parts of Chicago, Detroit and LA. I promise you will not make it through alive.

  18. some fans are but not all of us just ignor them and enjoy your trip

  19. LMAO. go to a race if you want to go to a race.... I cant say Ive been to Dega, but Daytona and Homestead are fine.

  20. NO we are not racist!  Why do you want to stereotype people?  Does that make you racist?  You will have no problem unless you go around telling everyone you are Mexican-American and have a chip on your shoulder.  Nobody will even pay attention to that unless you make them (or if you p**s off some drunk) and that can happen anywhere.  Go...Have fun...don't think about anything but racing and you will have a great time...IF you really want to!  Enjoy!

    Go Jr.>>>>

  21. There was a dateline episode, about how Arab men are treated in America. Had a hidden camera follow them to all sorts of different places. The had them go to a NASCAR race, and to everyone at Dateline's surprise, it was the one place where they saw no racism to speak of.  I think you will be just fine, now you will catch flack about your Gordon shirt, stick with Yeley, or wear an 88 shirt and you may get some breast flashed at you.

  22. You are really over thinking this.  THEY WILL (most likely) NOT CARE WHAT RACE YOU ARE!!!!

  23. Just go with a good attitude Nascar fans are not racists just don't go in with that kind of attitude go and enjoy yourself!!

  24. A small percentage may possibly be, but as a whole..I don't think so..

You should go, I'm sure you'll be just fine..

I HIGHLY doubt that anyone will bother you..

    Have fun!

    :-)

  25. Enjoy the race and ignore the JIM fans.

  26. In any crowd that size there will be a few jerks, but NASCAR crowds are filled with people who will help you if some jerk does anything bad. I'm a NASCAR fan and am not a racist, but we can exchange friendly boos regarding which driver we cheer for. Go 99!!

And if that's you in your avatar picture your biggest problem at the track will be men staring at you  and trying to be friendly because you are so beautiful.

  27. Oh come on.  You have been here long enought to know that we aren't racist???  You aren't "call me" are you???  Don't give in to the trolls by answering them or responding with questions like this.

  28. You will not be heckled because of your heritage but you probably WILL be heckled  because of your mullet!

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  29. I go to Talladega every year and I see African Americans there having a good ole time. I haven't seen any racism fights or arguments there. And those people at Talladega aren't all that bad. I think people's perspective was ruined when Jr. fans showered Jeff Gordon in April '07 with beer and chicken wings. They were just upset that he past Dale Sr. in wins that day... thats all. When Gordon won again in Oct. '07 nothing happened then. He was cheered for.

  30. They are all real nice down South.  Southern hospitality and all.  You should have no problem with your trip.  Enjoy.  Sport your heritage, they will welcome you with open arms.
