Question:

Are Native Americans (Amerindians) really Mongoloid?

I know that anthropologists usually classify Native Americans as a branch of the Mongoloid racial stock. However, from looking at pictures of Native Americans and East Asians, I found that the Native Americans look quite caucasoid (except the Inuit, who are definitely Mongoloid). Yes, they do have more slanted eyes and higher cheekbones than Europeans, but I also found that they also have high nasal profiles, protruding brow ridges, and double eyelids (not common among Asiatic Mongoloids). I found this especially to be true among North American Natives (Iroquois, Cherokee, Algonquin, etc.) than the South American Natives who live in the Amazonia (who look more Mongoloid). Does anyone else notice this too?

  1. An archaic and outdated mode of pruported taxonomic classifaction within past anthropological circles utilized racist terminology such as "mongoloid" or "caucasoid".  Within the contemporary anthropological scene, in accordance with emerging breakthroughs in genetics, it is understood that the human species cannot be subdivided into discrete categories, as we are human biological variation is clinal.  Also, nearly all populations have experienced gene flow with one another, therefor from a genetic perspective human biological diversity is greater within any to individuals of a group in contrast to the differences between groups.

  2. Yes the native Americans are definitely Mongoloid race. They crossed the Bering Straits during Ice Age from Asia. The Native Americans religion are animistic(worshiping of land, nature and ancestors) in nature. In Asia many less known Mongoloid races have the similar religion as the Native Americans. For example the Kirat, the native of the Himalayas region including Nepal have been living in this region for past 10,000 years according to Neolithic tools found. The Kirat are also mentioned in the Hindu Vedic scriptures and texts written over 1800 BCE-2000 BCE. The Kirat religion are animistic. They still worshiped land, nature and their ancestors.
