  1. i think they are philippino

  2. There is a theory that Native Americans originated in Asia because scientists find it inconcievable that they could have possibly originated in the Americas. According to the theory, hunters and scavengers during the Ice Age followed herds of mammoth across the ice shelf that used to connect Siberia and Alaska, which, in turn, allowed for the population of the Americas. There are several theories that have been put forward to refute it. There are also ancient human fossils that have been found in the Americas that predate many of the human fossils found in Asia and date back earlier than the beginning of the Ice Age that allowed for the connection at the Bering Strait. It is now believed that it may have been possible that a branch of the homo sapien population evolved and developed in the Americas. Though most evidence regarding the origin of homo sapiens place them in Africa, new evidence has recently been uncovered that dates back to the same time as the first African fossils. Fossils have been found in Europe, Asia, and in the Americas that proves that homo sapien populations evolved independent of each other in almost every corner of the world. Having dated human fossils found outside of Africa, some scientists have concluded that would have been physically impossible for the early populations of Europe and the Americas to have developed if not for independent evolution.

  3. most were from japan

  4. The bulk of native American DNA is from an Asian colonisation wave, and they are hard to tell apart from Asians genetically.

There's a fair bit of evidence that they have ancestry other than Asian though, as it looks like Australoid people, Jomons (prehistoric Japanese) and Cro Magnon Europeans also colonised America in the distant past.

  5. Looking Asian is not the same thing as being Asian?

Would you call a fourth generation descendant of migrants from China or Japan Asian or American?

Genetic and other evidence indicates that moderm Amerinds are descended from people from Northern Eurasia.

Their ancestors were Asian but they're not NOW!

  6. The whole Bering Strait idea is running out of favor with experts, and some never believed it in the first place.  North American elders from various tribes have always maintained they came from the south, which is the theory I am more accepting of.  The real answer is nobody knows for sure and there is no hardcore evidence either way.

  7. There is a lot of confusion with what is a continent and what is a race.  Asia is a continent.  Africa is a continent.  Race tend to be subjective and not universially agreed upon.  There are two races of "Asian" or more techinically known was oriental.  There are sundadonts (old oriental) and sinodonts (new oriental, means chinese teeth in latin).  Clearly trives such as the Navaho are from relative recent migrations and are closely related to sinodonts which has distinctive teeth and genetics.  There are other tribes that migrated much earlier and have sundadont roots.  There are also apparently other groups that have contributed much less to the genetics of native americans and previous posts alluded to.

  8. Okay, I'm Navajo and I have a good answer for you. The faces look very similar to Asians because thousands of years ago some Asians migrated to the area now known as the United States over an ice bridge that used to connect northern Asia to where Alaska is now. After some continental drift and the melting of the ice bridge the Asians that migrated here got stuck here and fromed tribes, and are now known as Native Americans. It's in American history books

  9. I would say so. They have asian features.

  10. There are some theories that Native Americans came from Asia, and genetically there is a link (only three "races," and Native Americans and Asians would be considered Mongoloid) but "Asian" would indicate a person from Asia, so no, Native Americans are not Asians.

  11. Indian

  12. I believe they come from northern Europe.  They crossed the icy path during winters when the 2 continents touched.  Maybe they were the mongrels who fled from all their rulers.  I thought native Americans evolved from Russian people.. but it might be a mongrels or whatever they are called.  They also made it all the way to Hawaii.  thats crazy to think about them crossing the ice.

  13. sum can be, but what i kno for sure is that they are indo-areans( spelled wronged probably)but if you look it up its almost spelled like that!

  14. native americans are native americans. asians are asians.

    where does your confusion lie?

  15. You are under the impression that there are such things as "races" in Anthropology. There aren't. Yes, Native Americans likely came from Asia, and so they will resemble Asians. However, the boundaries that humans have set between the races are completely cultural in nature - in fact, recent evidence suggests that the most recent common ancestor of all humans might have only lived as recent as 5,000 years ago, meaning that any differences between the races are highly insignificant.

But yes, Native Americans likely walked or took boats across the Bering Strait to arrive in North America, and yes, it does explain the resemblance of Native Americans to some Asian populations.

  16. Crossed Alaska from Russia on the land bridge.

  17. Technically, they are Mongoloid, as opposed to Caucasoid or Negr0id.

  18. There is some belief that Natives came from Asia via Alaska long, long ago. No proof, though.

  19. Some Native Americans are believed to be decedents from Asia.  They believe that Asia and the Americas were connected by either a land or ice bridge that is no longer here due to continental drift.

They'd probably be closely related to the eastern most groups, because that would have been the closest to the Americas and they did have to walk every where.

  20. No. They are American Indian. Aren't they? I know they are not asians.

  21. You could say so. They came across the then dry Bering Strait between Alaska and Russia. Some 20 000 yrs ago. But mankind evolved in Africa, so we're all Africans, too :)

  22. They are probably from the same stock as people in NE Asia. They are not Asians.

  23. Native Americans are a branch off of the Asian tree, so to speak.  They have Mongolian bloodlines that run all the way back to thousands of years ago.

There used to be a North American Siberian landbridge way back before the oceans covered it up and this is how Asians migrated into the West.

  24. no.. what i knew is that they are africans...

  25. the are American Indians.

  26. Asians are from Asia.  People that are the same distance from the equator tend to sort of look the same no matter what continent they're on.

  27. In victorian times, the physical anthropologists began to divide humans in three races; namely, the "caucasoids", the "mongoloids" and the "neegroids".. Now, even though that is not accepted in modern anthropology it is still a good way to describe how an ethnic group looks like (or almost looks like.. hehe), now, native americans were frequently placed in the mongoloid category (but sometimes they got theyre own).. So in that point of view, yes, theyre apperiances are somewhat similiar to east/south-east asians.. Now, that, and the fact that the native americans came to the americas from siberia makes the descendends from siberians(many people would suggest the ainu people of sakhalin in russia and hokkaido in northern japan) but yeah, that would make them 'close' to asians, but,.. In that point of view we would all be african because our ancestors came from there! hehe, and another thing: there is a possibility that before the "mongoloidic amerinds" came there, there was a sizeable population of australoids(modern day australian aborginals, dravidian south indians  & sri lankans and some more) and since "the autraloids" are nowadays mostly categorized as "proto-caucasoids" that would make them partly caucasoid. Also, there is a belief that the Ainu are australoid; now, if that is true then native americans would be.. a form of proto-caucasoids. But really, i dont think thats true. They dont look australoid(or atleast not native south american and the inuit)

  28. most likely. people from asia must've migrated to the americas using the bering straight. I mean, where else would they have come from?
