Nike brand President Charlie Denson has actually said he thinks it will be better for the golfer to stay away from the public eye and competitive fixtures until he has sorted out his private life. You could say that's a pretty understanding sponsor, but it's also true that it won't do Nike much good if Woods comes back with his game underperforming because of continuing disarray in his personal life.
