  1. Myself had a 96 version and it is one of the best cars i every owned .

My wife would love another one, fuel wise even with the V6 we found it very very economical, room wise was great for all the family,we had a crash in ours when some one crashed into our trunk non fault to us ,her car was written off whilst our max needed a new rear bumper and had a penny size dent on the trunk.

Overall a great car and would buy another one. Also our had high mileage, but still felt like new.

  2. My parents own a 97' maxima. Its done 260,000 Miles. More proof?

  3. i have a 99 and a 06 both SE's and both run well... for 5,000 you can pick up a 97-99 maybe 2000.

the 99 i will keep till it dies which is very unlikely in the near future.

  4. They are good cars, but not good on gas. They have V6 engines.

  5. eh, i suppose it depends on the year, but i they aren't exactly known for reliability and quality. I'd consider a ford taurus if ur willing to sacrifice a bit of gas mileage.

  6. Maxima's are great, I would also look into Altima's. I owned both and love them. I'm pro Nissan and every one I've owned (5 to be exact) were very reliable. I have 05 Altima, 93 300zx  99 Maxima and my daughter has 95 Sentra. Never had a break down that wasn't due to normal wear and tear. STAY AWAY FROM FORDS....THEY ARE WELL KNOW FOR CRAPPY TRANSMISSIONS.

  7. One of the most reliable cars out there. Used Maxima should be checked over for oil leaks axle boots and other service points. Good luck finding a nice example.
