  1. No. Nukes would only be considered in the event of a nuclear-armed country having its existence threatened, e.g., being over-run and destroyed by an enemy's conventional forces or believing it is about to be nuked by someone else. The nightmare scenario is (and always has been) someone firing a nuke in the mistaken belief that it was about to be on the receiving end of one. That was what *nearly* happened in the Cuban Missile Crisis. I'd imagine - I certainly hope - there are very sophisticated systems in place to prevent that ever happening again. Bioweapons might be a little bit more of a risk because less is known about them but again I don't believe they would be used in a conventional war by any major power.

  2. they are using them in a way already as a threat so that they can carry on advancing towards their goals.

  3. The conflict is no where near that huge of a deal to Russia and they can pretty much walk all over the Georgia as it is, i would say the threat is zero

  4. good question, but anwers here are naive. since the collapse of the ussr, russia has been planning to "redeem" itself thus it will flex some muscles. a small little war like this can escalate into something huge and huge means armaments of mass destruction.

  5. They are trying to overtake the country, not destroy it.

You wouldn't break something you're trying to steal, would you?
