Are Pell Grants transferable to out of state schools?

If i go to school in California and am transferring to a school outside of the state, will i still receive my pell grants at the new school?

  1. Hmmm interesting, because I wanted to transfer mine to California too!  I'm not sure, because I think everyone's independent status and need differs from state to state.  We should both go talk to financial aid....


  2. Pell Grant are Federal Government grants that are determined based on your FAFSA results.  It is based solely on need and the institution which you are attending has no control or affect on the Pell.

    Pell Grants are not attached to the school you are attending.  If you are receiving Pell Grants now and no major financial circumstances have changed, you should still receive them when you file for financial aid at your new school.
