Question:

Are Pillowtop mattresses bad for your back?

I have been hearing conflicting reports about how pillowtops. I just bought one and it's very new so my back is a little sore. However, my old mattress was very very firm and caused me a lot of pain so I think it's just an adjustment period. Someone told me that a pillowtop would work better for me because I'm small (5'3) and 120 lbs, so firm would actually hurt me, (which it did)

Do pillowtops cause back problems, alleviate them or have no effect? Just wondering.

  1. I heard this years ago as well.  Now I am no doctor but I had a firm mattress before I met my wife and then she convinced me to change to the pillow top.  I was in so much pain for the first month of transision but it got much better and my back has felt even better than ever.

  2. I've had one for two years and it seems to have helped my back.
