On December 28, 2003, in Wilmette, Illinois, Hale DeMar shot an intruder who had previously stolen his car.

While Cook County prosecutors declined to prosecute him for the shooting, the village of Wilmette prosecuted him for violating the local handgun ban.

The Illinois General Assembly passed a bill As a result of this shooting, the State Legislature passed a law making it legal to use a handgun in self-defense in your own home; the House passed it by 86-25 and the Senate passed this by 38-20.

Are the legislators who voted against this law fit for ANY political office?

  1. If you ban all guns.. criminals will still by them on the black market.. the only people without guns will be law biding citizens.. why don't people get that?

I have NEVER shot a gun in my life.. but my family always kept guns.. locked up in a gun cabinet.

    Only used for hunting.

To answer you question.. I don't think someone who votes against being able to protect yourself or your family needs to be in office.
