My Mum keeps treating me like a child calling my heath and power bars "candy bars" When I showed on the warning on the wrapper she made a snide remark "well your not a pregent woman" and missed the point entirely

  1. Power bars have a high energy content and low GI, which is good for sports people because they get lots of energy very quickly. In that way yes they are very much like candy bars. Like someone already said, if you only eat them, then you'll be fine (not a healthy diet, but you wont have the same effect as eating 3 mars bars a day) If you are having them on top of your normal food, then yes, I am afraid your mum is right.

  2. Read the ingredients label.

If you're eating them as a meal replacement, you're fine.

With all that being said, take a look at the carbohydrate and sugar content; that should be your clue.

  3. I'm not sure what kind of answer you are looking for...however...as a fitness model I can tell you that power bars are for meal replacement.  You should pay attention to the fat grams and # of carbohydrates that these bars contain because some bars are meant for the heavier muscle guys while some are made for those lighter in fitness.
