Are claims adjusters that work for Progressive paid on commission or do they have a base salary?

  2. There is no commission pay for adjusters. Just wondering, where did you get this idea?

  3. Is this question a result of a bad experience? The only way a claims adjuster would make or save the company money is if they denied a claim. It's not legal to give commission to an employee for denying claims.

  4. What commission are you talking about? In order to earn a commission, you have to sell something. Claims adjusters do not sell anything; they settle claims.

    Adjusters are not paid by commission.

    A company adjuster's pay is not affected by how much he/she pays on your claim.

    Some independent adjusters that are hired to write estimates (during a Catastrophe) often bill a % of the estimate they write. These folks have an incentive to inflate the value of your claim because they get paid more.

    Insurance Agents (sales) are usually commission.
