  1. up to now they are not as they require more cooling but when the new n45 technology becomes available the processors will be smaller and they may well put them into laptops. just found an article that says intel are releasing quad cores for laptops this month but the drawback will be very short battery life

  2. Yes, but only in large and very expensive models.

  3. No, they are not used as yet - at least that I know of. One of the main reasons is that these processors are power hungry and would soon suck the life out of a battery. Not to mention the heat they generate.

It seems that laptop technology is getting smaller (witness the success of the Asus EEE. They are using Intel's Atom processor which is very low in power consumption with Asus claiming 8 hrs. of battery life.

  4. They are available. But they are not power efficient and their cost........lets just leave it at that.

Not worth it yet. Perhaps in another 18 months.

  5. Dell, HP and Lenovo have all announced quad-core models in recent days and weeks, however I haven't seen one in a retail outlet as yet (someone correct me?!).  It'll be any time now.  As the processors were only due "Summer 2008", I suspect that supplies of finished laptops are patchy.
