The better question is this - Who stoled from whom first.

Do workers so call steal, or is it considered stealing because management does want them to have what is due them. I think there is more stolen from management from employees than ever could be stolen from the company. Almost every trip a crew makes, at least one part of their ticket is rejected, they have to resubmit the claim within 60 days, the company hopes that a certain percentage of employees will forget and they will never have to pay.

Being in a position that would know this for a railroad, I'd have to say, for the most part, NO.

There are a small amount who abuse policy, company credit cards, equipment, and let their friends with cordless grinders know what is is certain cars in railyards (playstations, televisions,etc), but for the most part, us railroads are all decent folk.

Really, its not worth what you stand to lose in railroad retirement when you get caught to actually perform the crimes.

I guess I'm having a hard time with this question, it's just very general.  I'm a railroad police officer, so do I see railroad employees steal from each other??  Or you asking do they steal from the company that they work for?  

No matter what company you work for, there is theft there. I spent 10 years in Loss Prevention/Asset Protection before becoming an officer.  Railroad workers are some of the hardest working industry in North America, they are working no matter what weather conditions exist outside. They work hard hours, away from their families quite often. It's also an extremely dangerous job.

No more so than any other worker...and that includes you....If you have taken a pen home from work that was paid for by your employer then you have committed theft...granted on a small scale...but you get my point...railroad workers are just like anyone else...you have good ones and you have bad ones....
