Are Red Bull Racing going to steal the show in Canada this weekend as well?
Red Bull Racing Team has been dominating the 2011 Formula 1 season up until now as they have a perfect pole position record and have secured 5 wins in just 6 races.
Sebastian Vettel is leading the points table by a huge margin as he is currently 58 points ahead of his closest rival Lewis Hamilton in the drivers’ standings. Vettel scored 5 victories up until now with 5 pole positions while his teammate Mark Webber was
able to secure just 1 pole position which was at the Spanish Grand Prix in May 2011.
According to the team’s current performance, it seems that the RB7 is a perfect car as they have been able to dominate at tracks like Monte Carlo in Monaco and even at tracks like the Albert Park in Australia.
The main advantage the team has is its expertise in aerodynamics as a result of which they have been able to control their car according to their likings with maximum possibilities at each track.
However, the only problem with the RB7 is that it is extremely fast during qualifying sessions but during the races, the car suffers to perform up to the mark in terms of pace as both Sebastian and Mark are unable to score good lap times consistently.
As a result, the reigning world champion finished just inches ahead of Fernando Alonso at the Monaco Grand Prix to take the victory and even at the Spanish Grand Prix, Vettel finished just tenths ahead of Lewis Hamilton.
Since the Gilles Villeneuve is going to be the first track to feature two Drag Reduction System zones in the 2011 Formula 1 season, both McLaren and Ferrari must be hoping for some better results at the upcoming race.
In the DRS zones up until now, both McLaren and Ferrari have been faster than Red Bull but while turning, the RB7 has been much stronger.
Gilles Villeneuve circuit is a mixture of everything as the track has long straights and tight corners but the track’s properties will favour the car which is faster and in this year, McLaren and Ferrari are pretty fast.
Therefore, one has to admit that anything can happen at the upcoming race. Red Bull Racing Team cannot make a single mistake at the moment since they are reliant on their qualifying pace rather than their racing pace.
If both drivers of Red Bull Racing Team qualify strongly and manage a good start to the race then this weekend is not going to be any different than the past 6 race weekends. However, if they fail to do so, then both McLaren and Ferrari are going to give
them an extremely tough time in Montreal which is something Red Bull Racing Team is trying to avoid since the beginning of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
After evaluating all of these results and the RB7 performance at each track, it seems that Red Bull Racing Team once again has a chance of dominating the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix. McLaren or Ferrari, who are their closest rivals have been unable to improve
their respective cars in terms of qualifying pace as a result of which, both of the teams will be praying for a good performance during the race.
